Submission grappling is a system that incorporates techniques from many arenas, but without the use of a traditional Gi (as seen in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo), and is typically undertaken by MMA practitioners or those with an interest in the grappling arts. There are techniques from BJJ, Wrestling, Catch Wrestling and Judo.
The techniques covered will show you how to effectively throw or wrestle your opponent to the mat, be successful in the clinch and ultimately control and advance to a dominant position on the ground, resulting in submitting your opponent with a choke or lock. Defensive tactics in all the areas will also be taught. The Gi used in BJJ is an important factor within the art, but there are many crossover techniques that can be adapted and applied without it, thus making them useful for MMA.
This class is open to anybody over the age of 14.
